A PROJECT, A SHARED VISION
In the heart of Catania, Habitat was born in 2014 from the vision of Marianna Nociforo and Antonio Spera, a duo of architects who, after gaining significant experience in Italy and abroad, returned to their homeland with a clear goal: to create a place that tells the story of contemporary Sicily, beyond stereotypes.
The project unfolds within a historic building and intertwines with the urban and human context around it. Habitat is a multifaceted organism where architecture, hospitality, food, and culture converse to build a coherent, innovative, and deeply rooted story.
Memory and innovation, identity and openness, past and future: Studio Habitat embraces cross-pollination and seeks new synergies with a sustainable and conscious approach. From using local resources to fighting waste and adopting energy-efficient technologies, every choice reflects a clear and practical vision.
Inside the studio, a calm and inspiring environment nurtures a team of passionate professionals, where every project grows from the fusion of diverse skills and shared visions.
THE ARCHITECTS
Marianna Nociforo earned her architecture degree in Venice. After working in Northern Italy, she moved to Boston, where she collaborated with an international firm. Her strong bond with her homeland brought her back to Sicily, where she now works as a freelance architect.
Antonio Spera studied architecture in Palermo. His travels in Spain and Egypt nurtured a creative approach full of Mediterranean inspiration. He settled in Catania, focusing on urban regeneration and transforming neglected buildings into projects with clean, contemporary design.
Today, both are active in projects involving environmental sustainability and the development of photovoltaic fields. They also manage real estate ventures, delivering turnkey solutions for hospitality facilities—from property acquisition and architectural design to commissioning and operational launch.
