Zinne Fest at Habitat Boutique Hotel: Photography, Independent Publishing, Wine & Music
Last Saturday evening, Habitat Boutique Hotel opened its courtyard to the city with Zinne Fest, an event organized by Habitat in collaboration with 2Lab, a cultural association based in the heart of Catania’s Civita district and long committed to promoting photographic culture and independent publishing.
The event transformed the courtyard into a space dedicated to photography and creative exchange, with a special focus on the world of photo zines. At the heart of the evening was a curated selection of photographic fanzines collected by 2Lab, displayed across long communal tables and freely available for guests to browse. This open archive invited visitors to explore the diverse languages, projects, and visual narratives of contemporary independent photography.
Complementing the exhibition was a photographic installation by Carmelo Stompo, featuring large-format prints displayed throughout the hotel courtyard. The works established a compelling dialogue with the surrounding architecture and remain on view, continuing to shape the visual identity of the space.
The culinary experience was curated by Materia Spazio Cucina, which prepared a seasonal aperitivo reflecting its distinctive gastronomic philosophy. The menu featured couscous, homemade focaccia with roasted peppers, and grilled octopus skewers, accompanied by a cocktail selection thoughtfully created to complement the atmosphere of the evening.
The wine experience was led by the Etna winery Tre.Mi.La Wine, under the guidance of Gloria Di Paola, who presented a curated tasting that celebrated the region’s rich winemaking heritage and strengthened the event’s connection to the local territory.
The evening’s soundtrack was provided by Lungomare Paradiso, whose DJ set created a seamless musical backdrop, enhancing the atmosphere with a carefully curated selection that encouraged conversation, conviviality, and enjoyment.
Zinne Fest represented Habitat’s vision of opening its courtyard to the city as a place for cultural exchange, transforming it into a vibrant setting for meeting, creativity, and shared experiences. As a space in constant evolution, Habitat is already planning a new series of cultural gatherings and themed events, reaffirming its commitment to keeping the courtyard an open platform for the creative energy of the local community.
